SAXOPHONIST
A graduate of the Howard University music program, Joseph Bernard Whitney played first tenor in the Howard University Jazz Ensemble. He was featured on numerous albums and toured Japan with the Howard University Jazz Ensemble. Whitney also played lead alto and first tenor with the George Mason University Jazz Ensemble and recorded an album with the big band. He performed in China and toured Shanghai and Beijing with the George Mason University Jazz Ensemble.
Bernard has shared the stage with Donald Byrd, Billy Harper, Eddie Henderson, Jimmy Heath, Yusuf Lateef, and Phil Woods among others. He has been a featured soloist at the Strathmore Mansion, the Sylvan Ampitheatre, and the International Saxophone Symposium. Whitney continues to perform at numerous venues in the greater metropolitan Washington D.C. area.
